Pebble Foot Bath for Swollen Ankles and Feet

There are many causes for swelling of the ankles and feet.  Resting with the feet elevated is an effective measure as is a pebble foot bath.

Place a dozen or so smooth round pebbles in bowl of comfortably warm water (approximately 4 cups), then add the following:

4 drops of Cypress essential oil

4 drops of Lavender essential oil

Soak and roll the soles of your feet slowly and gently over the pebbles for a several minutes.  Dry your feet, and then using the blend listed below, massage from as low on the feet as you can go, working your way up to the ankles and up toward the knees, massaging behind the knees as well.

15 drops of Cypress essential oil

15 drops of Fennel essential oil

2 tablespoons of of olive oil

If the swelling is due to hot weather, before massaging the feet and ankles take a piece of ice and place it in a plastic bag.  Rub the bag around the back of the knees until they feel very cold, then rub the center and soles of the feet.

Remember to drink plenty of water.
