Skin Problems

Using essential oils for skin conditions:  Types of skin problems are listed below as are the essential oils that are considered to be the most helpful. These essential oils are best applied topically, diluting with a carrier oil such as coconut, jojoba or sweet almond oil.  (1 drop of essential oil to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil for a 1% solution).  You can also add 8 to 10 drops of essential oils to a warm bath.

General Skin Conditions

A large number of skin conditions are preventable. Dry skin for example, may be avoided by hydration and using body care products that do not strip your skin’s natural oils. However, sometimes things happen, and it’s good to know how to deal with skin issues when they arise.

The best general-purpose essential oils to have on hand for skin conditions are Frankincense, Lavender, Peppermint, Tea Tree, and Sandalwood, followed by Cypress, Geranium, Marjoram, Myrrh, Orange, RosemaryYlang Ylang, Grapefruit, Oregano and Clove.

Callouses

Oregano is most effective for treating callouses.

Chapped/Cracked

Myrrh is an excellent essential oil to use for chapped and cracked skin.

Corns

Corns are most often a result of wearing improperly fitted shoes. Corns may best be treated with Clove, Peppermint and Grapefruit essential oils.

Facial Oils

Myrrh and Sandalwood essential oils blended with coconut oil are good to use on the face.
